The Hierarchy of Divine Authority

A contemplation of the biblical narratives and the hierarchy of authority reveals what the Church and the depths of the psyche have long known: God is the living structure from which order arises. Chaos and Sophia
Everything begins not with the finished cosmos, but with the formless abyss. The substrate, which has not yet taken shape, is that dark, receptive principle. Tradition recognizes in it the unconscious and Sophia—the Black Madonna of the soul. She does not devour the masculine, but rather carries and complements it. Without this receptive depth, there would be no creation. Healthy femininity here is not weakness, but the soil from which order can rise.
Authority – The Father's Structure
Above chaos rises the a priori order of the Father. It is the inner structure that first allows consciousness to see and act. Without this Father, humanity remains at the mercy of chaos. The hierarchy is not a human power construct, but the reflection of this divine structure. Whoever resists it loses their inner support. Whoever submits to it finds the path to masculinity, which sustains and protects.
The Logos as the Creative Word
Between chaos and the Father, the Son – the Logos – is at work. He is the creative word of truth that gives form to the formless. This word kills falsehood and awakens the soul to life. Truth here is not opinion. It is the sword that does not distort reality. Whoever speaks truthfully calls forth goodness. Whoever lies tears the fabric of being and must bear the consequences. No one escapes.
The Hierarchy of Competence
Long before laws were written in stone, humankind played. Morality arises in play: those who act unfairly are no longer invited. Thus, the hierarchy of authority is formed—not through mere force, but through competence, responsibility, and reciprocity. He who voluntarily accepts suffering and enters into chaos ascends. The cross is the symbol of this voluntary acceptance. It is older than the Church, yet perfected within it.
Play and Individuation
Hierarchy is the path of individuation. Human beings ascend not to rule, but to recognize the structure and be able to break free from it—into the Holy Spirit, which hovers above the pyramid. Thus, the servant of order becomes its free servant. The soul is freed when it turns to the symbolic Father and simultaneously honors the Sophia within.
The Family as a Mirror of Divine Order
This order protects the family. Marriage is not primarily for the partners, but for the children, who experience healthy masculinity and healthy femininity in the polarity of father and mother. Without the father who withstands chaos, and without the mother who, as Sophia, preserves the unconscious, the soul of the next generation is shattered. Church tradition and depth psychology confirm each other: only in the union of healthy masculinity and healthy femininity is the soul whole.
Repentance and the Light
Chaos remains. It is the dragon, the Leviathan. But the Logos is stronger. It binds the disordered, divides it, and forms a habitable world from it. Everyone who clears up, who abandons their own lies and takes responsibility, participates in this work of creation. This is the path of repentance: from the darkness of Nigredo to the light of order.
May the sword of the Logos strike and awaken us. May the hierarchy lift us up. And may the Black Madonna of the Soul teach us that true masculinity and true femininity complete each other. Thus, from chaos, cosmos will return—and the prodigal son a free servant of the Father.
